SADIE JORDAN, FOUNDER

SADIE'S STORY

Sadie holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Lesley University. Yet, it was a trip to Costa Rica, a year after a traumatic car accident, that changed the scope of her personal and professional life.

During this transformational trip she experienced firsthand the healing power of travel and the importance of finding one’s life passion.

On her travels through Central America she ran barefoot through the lush Jungle, rode horses through remote villages and began her spiritual journey. She fell in love with the small ocean side town of Puerto Viejo, where she was introduced to the Afro – Caribbean culture of the area, which had never been discussed in her mother’s Costa Rican family.

Since that initial trip over ten years ago, she has explored Europe, South and Central America, Southern Africa, and Asia. Sadie has also had the opportunity to work for some of the most well-known travel companies in the world. She has done everything from create complex itineraries for those looking to travel to some of the most remote locations in the world, to advocating for trans, accessible and BIPOC travelers who are particularly underserved in the tourism industry.

After spending some time contemplating how she could harness her skills, and experiences in helping others find peace and restoration through travel, Sadie created Soul Life Travel in 2014.

The goal to bring people together for culture, wellness, and adventure in the most unique locations of Costa Rica, particularly the overlooked Caribbean coast, who Sadie still holds dear to her heart.

Sadie has experienced firsthand the healing and inspirational benefits of travel and wants to aid in inspiring others! She actively works with Emily in the development of culturally competent itineraries and experiences throughout Costa Rica.

SADIE'S Q&A

What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?

I absolutely love Gallo Pinto, which is black beans mixed with rice. Traditionally we eat it at every meal, but my favorite time is during breakfast when it is paired with peppers, onions, eggs, fresh fruit and sweet plantains. Add a splash of salsa Lizano, a tangy sauce that should be paired with any typical Costa Rican meal and you’re all set! It is a great start to a day and will set you up for any amount of exploring.

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

I will never forget driving through Etosha National Park in Nambia, as a thunder storm rolled in.The sky turned a magnificent silver, and we could see giraffe and wildebeest running across the pan as the heavens let out a crash of thunder.

Where would you love to travel next?

I love “off the beaten path locations”, so the Osa Penisuila in Costa Rica quickly jumped to the top of my travel list. The Osa Peninsula’s location on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast makes accessing the region a journey in itself.  It’s more rugged, remote, and less busy than other points on the traditional Costa Rica’s tourist trail.

Ticos have told me that it offers some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling in the country, and its biodiversity includes endangered wildlife such as squirrel monkeys and scarlet macaws.

Occupying much of Osa’s southwest area is Corcovado National Park, a protected reserve that National Geographic called “one of the most biologically intense places on earth.”
